Off to Italy For a Week

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

It's like a sauna up here. We made the 3rd level of the house into an office and whenever you sit at the computer you immediately feel the sweat beading on your forehead and then trickling down your face. We don't have air conditioning - just like the majority of homes in Germany - so we've been finding other ways to keep cool. One way for me to keep cool is to avoid the computer altogether (hence, no posts for the past few weeks). The weather won't be any cooler in Milan, either.

Yup ... I'm going to Italy with the kids. I'm a bit nervous about the flight because this is my first time travelling alone with the kids. I wonder how they will react. Luckily, the flight is only 1 hour and 40 minutes from Hamburg. This will give me a glimpse as to what to expect when we fly to Canada in August but my husband will be coming along to help.

I won't be doing much sight seeing (just visiting family) but I do hope to squeeze in a little bit of shopping. One thing that I'll be looking for is a pizzelle maker. I haven't really found one around here, and if I do, it'll probably be expensive. I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg if I order it on online. I hope they will be a little cheaper in Italy. :-)

I'll be offline for the next week. I wish you all a wonderful week and see you all when I get back!

Take care,

My poor Mommy was stuck lugging us around Europe several times when my brother and I were babies. I always admired her for her strength and enthusiasm. I'm sure this experience will be remembered by your children too. They will grow up admiring Mama just like I have.
I hope you have a great vacation along the way.

BTW...I have a pizzelle machine which has been picking up dust...thanks for reminding me to give it a chance to make these fabulous flat waffle cookies ;o)

Ciao for now,
Claudia

Rosa, have a great time in Milan with the children. I hope the weather is a little better than it is in Germany at the moment. In my part of Canada, we are having very hot and humid weather of 40C (I hate July weather!!!) and keeping indoors with the air conditioner full blast.

Have a wonderful time in Italy! Looking forward to hearing all about your travels when you return:) I found a great pizelle maker on Cooks.com. I love it. It was only $40.00. I have had it for one year and it is great. It is actually the same one my grandmother uses. I will see if I can find the link for you, if you like.

Raina July 14, 2010 5:35 PM

Sorry Rosie. It is not Cooks.com. I will find it, though, and send the link to you.
